Porcelain, also called "The White Gold", is the product, that made the city of Selb famous in the whole world. Most of the people, who live in this town and around it, have something to do with porcelain. They call eachother / themselves "Porzelliner" - probabely there's no translation for it - but I could imagine something like: "porcelainers".
Every year, early in August, there's a big Porcelain-Festival going on in Selb. A huge flea market for porcelain, probabely the biggest in whole Europe, many informative, cultural and culinary attractions are luring thousands of visitors from near and far into the city.
Also Live and Learn in Kenya is present every year. The unique game "Porcelain-Plate-Memory", originally designed by Clara Sikora, later by the pupils of the local porcelain design school, finds many friends, specially among the very young festival visitors. Our other attractions are quite a success every year too. There is our "Cup-Meeting" - kind of a coffee bar, where the guest can keep the porcelain cup after drinking coffee. Last, not least, a "raffle" with valuable porcelain items. At our info desk there's opportunity to find out about our projects. Some visitors have left our stand as "fresh" sponsors of a child in Nakuru, Kenia.
